Stone Canyon 203
Oro Vally, Arizona
Created as a quiet haven in the rocky, eroded hills and arroyos at the base of the Tortolita Mountains, this 5000 ft. home is the integration of competing styles. This residence, the client's first contemporary home, required a perfect balance of territorial and desert modern interiors.
We also sought to blur exterior boundaries to better showcase the intricate geology and wide vistas that attracted them to the desert.
The home itself is formed around a bright axial entry that diffuses into a landscape planted with local flora. Through the continuity of wall to wall glass, uninterrupted cast trellis shadows, and a steel skylight system, the perceived living space extends past the reaches of the interior envelope to the vista beyond.
